AI code review on your own LLM key.
Choose the provider and the model. Your provider bills you for tokens at its list price; Mesrai charges a flat per-developer fee and adds nothing on top.
What is BYOK code review?
BYOK (bring your own key) code review means the AI that reviews your pull requests runs on a model in your own provider account, with your own API key. With Mesrai, you pay a flat platform fee per developer, and your provider bills you separately for the tokens each review uses — at its list price, with no markup in between.
What you control
Provider and key
Connect OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, OpenRouter, Novita or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — including a model you run yourself. Keys are never stored or logged in plain text.
The model
Pick a recommended model from the catalog, or configure any model ID manually with your own temperature, max tokens, reasoning effort and concurrency limit.
A fallback
Add a fallback model. If the main provider rate-limits or goes down, reviews continue on the fallback automatically.
Your bill
Tokens are billed by your provider at its own rates, on your own invoice. Mesrai charges a flat per-developer platform fee and never marks up tokens.
Recommended models for code review
| Model | Provider | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Sonnet 4.6 | Anthropic | Best balance of quality and cost — our default recommendation. |
| Claude Opus 4.7 | Anthropic | Flagship quality for the hardest reviews; premium price. |
| Gemini 3.1 Pro | Google Gemini | Largest context — strongest on very large PRs and monorepos. |
| GPT-5.4 | OpenAI | Fast and consistent, with low latency. |
| Kimi K2.6 | Moonshot (OpenAI-compatible) | Coding-tuned and cheap; pay-per-token or the Kimi Code Plan subscription. |
| GLM 5.1 | Z.ai (OpenAI-compatible) | Best subscription value with the flat-rate GLM Coding Plan. |
Any other model works too: choose Configure manually, pick the provider (or OpenAI-compatible with your own base URL), and type the model ID.
Two bills, no markup
Mesrai bills a flat fee per active developer — anyone who opens a pull request in the billing period. Reviews are unlimited. Your LLM provider bills you for the tokens your reviews use, at its list price or through a flat coding-plan subscription.

Who brings their own model
Teams with an existing AI contract
If your company already pays for Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI, reviews run on that contract — its credits, its data terms, no new AI vendor to approve.
Teams watching cost
Use a strong model for review and switch to a cheaper one when budgets tighten, or cap spend with a GLM or Kimi coding-plan subscription.
Teams with data requirements
Point Mesrai at a model hosted in your region or inside your network. Combined with self-hosted Mesrai, review can run without calling an outside provider.
Teams that want to pick the model
Models improve every few months. With your own key you switch when you decide, instead of waiting for a vendor to change theirs.
Set it up
- 1
Open app.mesrai.com/organization/byok.
- 2
Pick a recommended model card and paste your API key — or choose Configure manually for any provider or self-hosted endpoint.
- 3
Click Test & save. The test makes a cheap metadata call (no inference) to catch wrong keys or URLs before your first review.
- 4
Add a fallback model so reviews keep running if your main provider rate-limits.
Bring your own key — frequently asked
What is BYOK AI code review?
+BYOK (bring your own key) AI code review means the AI that reviews your pull requests runs on your own LLM provider account, using your API key. The review tool charges for the product, and your provider bills you directly for the tokens used.
Does Mesrai mark up LLM tokens?
+No. Mesrai charges a flat per-developer platform fee — ₹499 / $6 per active developer per month on Pro — and your provider bills you for tokens at its own rates.
Which LLM providers does Mesrai support?
+OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Google Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, OpenRouter, Novita and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — which covers Moonshot (Kimi), Z.ai (GLM), Groq, Together AI, Fireworks and models you host yourself with vLLM or Ollama.
What is the best LLM for code review?
+We recommend Claude Sonnet 4.6 as the default for the best overall balance of quality and cost. Claude Opus 4.7 is strongest on hard reviews, Gemini 3.1 Pro handles the largest pull requests, and Kimi K2.6 or GLM 5.1 on a coding-plan subscription give the most predictable cost.
Can I use a coding-plan subscription instead of paying per token?
+Yes. The Kimi Code Plan and GLM Coding Plan are built into the model catalog with the right endpoint and concurrency limit pre-filled, so your monthly model spend is capped.
What happens if my provider is down or rate-limited?
+If you configure a fallback model, Mesrai switches to it automatically when the main provider hits rate limits or fails.
Can I use a self-hosted or local model?
+Yes. Choose OpenAI-compatible, set the base URL of your server (for example vLLM or Ollama) and type the model ID. With self-hosted Mesrai, reviews can run entirely inside your network.
Is BYOK available on the free trial?
+Yes. BYOK is how Mesrai works on every plan, including the 14-day free trial with unlimited reviews and no credit card.
